Meet the Retirement Course Instructors
Jonathan N. Castle, MSFS, CFP®
In teaching The Retirement Continuum™, Jon uses entertaining and straightforward communication skills to distill complex concepts into easily understood ideas. He follows Einstein’s motto, “If you can’t explain it simply… you just don’t understand it well enough.”
Mr. Castle graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and served as an Armored Cavalry officer and helicopter gunship pilot in the U.S. Army until he entered the financial services industry in 1995. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and has achieved a Master of Science in Financial Services (MSFS).
In private practice, Jon specializes in portfolio design, retirement planning, estate planning, and wealth managements techniques for successful clients and retiring business owners. Jon was the author of the Community Column “Wealth Guards” for the Florida Times-Union, co-hosted the call-in talk radio show, “Financial Feud,” and has taught comprehensive retirement planning courses as part of the University of North Florida's "Learn Jax" program since 2007. He has also lectured on wealth preservation topics at the Florida Coastal School of Law, and on aspects of the Financial Services business at University of North Florida.
Jon is the co-founder and a shareholder of Paragon Wealth Strategies, and also serves as its Chief Investment Officer. In addition to his work at Paragon, Jon is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), an exclusive membership of fee-only financial planners, as well as the Northeast Florida Financial Planning Association (FPA). He grew up in Virginia, is married, and has two adult children. When not working for clients, Jon is an avid practitioner of the Leung Sheung lineage of Wing Chun Kung Fu. He also enjoys various outdoor fitness activities, researching and writing about investment management, and spending time with his family.
Michelle Ash CFP®, RICP®, CASL®
Michelle Ash believes a financial planner’s perspective should be holistic, by taking a total wealth management perspective that allows clients to factor their goals, values, and priorities into their situation. Critical to a client's success is the integration of planning to address some of retirees' greatest worries: health care expenses, weathering the market’s ups and downs while using a portfolio for income, minimizing taxes, to name a few. This approach is what she brings to The Retirement Continuum™ courses to help attendees maximize retirement success.
In private practice, Ms. Ash specializes in retirement planning and specialized planning issues such as retirement income planning and retiree healthcare planning. Michelle has conducted educational courses on retirement planning through the University of North Florida’s LearnJax program since 2007. She has also served as an Adjunct Professor with Florida State College at Jacksonville, teaching courses on various financial matters, and co-hosted the radio show "Financial Feud.

Michelle graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1995 from the University of Louisville and began her career in financial planning in 1998. Michelle is the co-founder and a shareholder of Paragon Wealth Strategies, and serves as a Managing Partner. She is a member of NAPFA, and Past President of the Northeast Florida chapter of the Financial Planning Association (FPA).
In her free time, Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband, and ocean stand-up paddleboarding. Currently, Michelle is also pursuing her Master of Science degree in Financial Services.
Jennifer G. King, CFP®
Jenn King teaches the risk management components of The Retirement Continuum. She has spent her 17 years in the financial services industry focused on a comprehensive, strategic planning approach that is always centered on her relationship with her clients and being an advocate and partner as they work together to achieve their financial goals.
Ms. King specializes in comprehensive wealth management and has expertise in retirement planning, risk management, and effective use of strategic credit to enhance the retirement experience. In private practice, she is a Senior Financial Planner at PARAGON Wealth Strategies, LLC.
Jenn attended Jacksonville University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Aviation Management. At graduation, she was commissioned as an officer in the United States Navy, where she served as a Naval Aviator flying the SH-60F/H Seahawk Helicopter. She received her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP®) designation in 2008 and has served several years on the board of the Financial Planning Association of Northeast Florida, completing her board time as President.
Jenn is married to her husband Craig, and they were blessed with their 2 children: Brandon, who plays football for Bartram High School, and Isabella, who is a ballroom dancer. Jenn is an active member of San Juan del Rio Catholic Church and enjoys her time dancing and staying active with her kids.
